•1. How often do you listen to music?

Better question would be, how often do I *not* listen to music? There is always music playing in my life.

•2. Do you ever listen to the radio? What is your favorite station?

Only if I'm in the car; 102.1 CFNY, the Spirit of Radio

•3. How do you find new songs, albums, or artists to listen to?

Recommendation of friends, surfing YouTube, CFNY...

•4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file?

Um, just a couple of weeks ago, I bought a couple of Bob Dylan CDs with a gift card my son gave me.

•5. Do you think any of the technologies and distribution methods mentioned above will still be around in ten years? Why or why not?

Really impossible to say; technology is changing like woah, and you're talking to the girl who still has an extensive collection of vinyl...

(oh, and a comment on the music I'm listening to right now? Runewise, I miss your voice...)

RIP, Jack Layton. You achieved so much for us, with us. We had such high hopes for you, for ourselves. You will be sorely missed...

I just stepped out the front door to see if there was any mail for us today.

Before I could look in the letterbox, an enormous black crow landed soundlessly in the neighbour's maple tree and regarded me for some moments.

That'll do...

A Kite is a Victim

A kite is a victim you are sure of.
You love it because it pulls
gentle enough to call you master, strong enough to call you fool;
because it lives like a desperate trained falcon in the high sweet air
and you can always haul it down to tame it in your drawer.

A kite is a fish you have already caught in a pool where no fish come,
so you play him carefully and long, and hope he won't give up, or the wind die down.
A kite is the last poem you've written, so you give it to the wind, but you don't let it go
until someone finds you something else to do.

A kite is a contract of glory that must be made with the sun, so you make friends with the field the river and the wind, then you pray the whole cold night before, under the travelling cordless moon, to make you worthy and lyric and pure.

At 10:00pm:

PC - 24 seats
Lib - 11 seats
NDP - 8 seats

All results are unofficial until final ballot counts are verified by Elections Canada...

*****

At 10:15pm:

Jack Layton has been elected in Toronto-Danforth.
None of the other party leaders are leading.

PC - 64 seats
Lib - 12 seats
NDP - 17 seats

*****

At 10:30pm

Stephen Harper has been elected in Calgary Southwest.

PC - 97 seats
Lib - 15 seats
NDP - 33 seats

...the races are too close to call - projected (aka "Leading In") results keep pushing the Cons really close to having a majority. Albeit a slim one...

*****

At 10:45pm

PC - 119 seats
Lib - 16 seats
NDP - 68 seats

...not looking good *sigh*

*****

At 11:00pm

Elizabeth May is leading in her riding.

PC - 133 seats
Lib - 20 seats
NDP - 78 seats

*Mutters something rude about the rubes*

*****

At 11:15pm

Gilles Duceppe has been defeated.

PC - 144 seats
Lib - 24 seats
NDP - 87 seats

*****

At 11:30pm

Looks like a PC majority. Can't stay up to see the final seat count, so lets look at something a little different before I call it a night:

If our electoral system responded to percentage of popular vote instead of running on a first-past-the-post system, the breakdown would look like this at the moment:

PC - 123 seats (currently 146 seats)
NDP - 95 seats (currently 92 seats)
Lib - 59 seats (currently 24 seats)
Bloc - 17 seats (currently 1 seat)

Man, do I ever wish we could swing electoral reform...

*****

That's all from me, folks. Gotta wake up at dawn tomorrow. Cheers.

Alright, folks. Here's the important number: 155.
Any party who gains or exceeds 155 seats will hold a majority government.
Polls close in BC in 20 minutes, at which point the results blackout will be lifted, and we'll see just how close the preliminary results are, and how much the PC's will be counting on the BC swing votes.

For our out-of-country viewers:
PC = Progressive Conservative, led by incumbant Prime Minister Stephen Harper
Lib = Liberal, led by Michael Ignatieff, incumbant Leader of the Opposition
NDP = New Democrat Party, led by my man there in the orange cap, Smiling Jack Layton
Bloc = Bloc Quebecois, the Quebec nationalist party that fields no candidates outside of Quebec province, led by Gilles Duceppe
Green = Green Party, led by Elizabeth May, one-time advisor the Prime Minister Mulroney's cabinet

...15 mintues to go time.
